Survivor Philippines Episode 47 (11-18-08): Bonding Time in Chalam

After Cris won a delicious meal at the last reward challenge on Survivor Philippines, the Chalam tribe went back to camp with stomachs ranging from full to practically empty.

As most of the castaways were resting under the trees, Zita went to the ocean for a swim and to wash her clothes. The others heard her shouting. Marlon ran off, thinking she was drowning. It was actually just a fish, but a big fish at that! Marlon and the others brought it to shore. Once they had it in the sand, they debated whether it could be eaten. They remembered that Kiko had mentioned a poisonous fish that like the one they caught. It was a type of fish (“butete”) that ballooned, which kind of scared JC who didn’t want to eat it. Marlon put the fish back into the water.

JC found Charisse to be interesting to talk to, about things that had “sense” instead of just jokes. Kaye talked to JC about wanting to vote Rob out, because there were others who deserved to be there more than him. JC said that he couldn’t believe that Rob was weak; in fact, in the previous challenge, Rob threw the spear the farthest.

Marlon worked on his strategy for survival, targetting Kaye and Cris again. He wanted to scare the two that they were next in line, and offered Kaye the chance to equalize the game. He wanted Kaye to vote off one of the Naak, to make it four to four. Kaye said that what Marlon said made sense, and that he was the one who gave her the wisdom to vote Kiko off.

Rob, JC and Charisse enjoyed the beautiful sunset on the beach. That night, the camp gathered around the fire to dance, sing, improvise and play games. Marlon said that, though they were all smiles, inside they were suffering physically and emotionally.

One of the highlights of the night was when Rob took off his shorts and ran half-naked (OK, butt-naked!), with just his front covered up.

One of their games was a question and answer portion where the guys asked Charisse whether she really had feelings for Kiko (she said no!). Other possible ‘love teams’ that they had fun over were Zita and Gigit, and Rob and Vern.

At the end of this episode, JC said that there were only a few people he trusted. Kaye said that she didn’t trust anybody.
