Survivor Philippines Episode 52 (11-25-08): The White Elephant

On episode 51 of Survivor Philippines, Marlon was voted off the island of Koh Tarutao and Rob won the reward challenge.

Rob chose coffee to share with the rest of the tribe, to the huge delight of the others. Back at camp, the castaways prepared to enjoy their first cups of coffee since arriving on the island. Mommy Zita was once again serving everyone so they could enjoy the treat.

Coffee was the first topic of their conversation as stormy winds raged around them. But talk went round to Marlon’s threat of a second surprise for the remaining castaways. JC said that he had seen Marlon’s good side, but the tribe had wanted him to leave. Meanwhile, Kaye told Zita that she felt Kiko’s anger toward her because of her vote against him. The coffee gave such a boost to the castaways that JC said “Grabe, bigla akong sumaya sobra.” Rob expressed gratitute for winning the reward of P50,000 for his family.

White Elephant for Immunity

At the immunity challenge, host Paolo Bediones told the castaways that this was going to be an exciting challenge of their strength. During the first round, the castaways needed to climb a wall, and get a flag. The first four to reach the mat advanced to the second round.

The second round required the four castaways to swim to a bamboo station out on the water to get their flag before swimming back to shore. The first three to step on the web went on to the third and last round.

In the final round, the three had to dig for six colored planks buried in the sand. They needed to arrange the planks on corresponding steps at the side of the tower. The first to climb the tower and get the white elephant won Immunity.

JC was first to get to the first round, then Cris, Nanay Zita and Rob. Charisse and Kaye were left out of the second round. Kaye told Charisse not to worry because she (Charisse) would not leave.

In the second round, JC was again ahead, followed by Zita. Rob simply gave up. Cris, who had sustained a foot injury, went limping back to shore.

As JC and Nanay Zita dug in the sand pit, Cris rejoined them. It was a close race between JC and Zita. Cris complained of the pain from his wound, but the other castaways urged him not to give up.

It was a difficult challenge for the three. Zita asked Cris if he had seen one of her yellow planks. Cris said no. Zita pointed him to two of his violet planks. But JC was quicker to find his sixth plank and raised his flag ahead of the others. At this point, Zita wanted to give up, but the others encouraged her to go on. Still, JC finished putting his planks in place to claim the white elephant.

JC said that he really needed the Immunity necklace because he was a prime target for the others.
