Survivor Philippines Episode 63 (12-10-08): Salute to the Castaways

We are nearing the finale of  Survivor Philippines! Out of the original 18 castaways, only two, bosom buddies JC and Rob, are left.

Farewell to Camp Chalam

Day 39 came. JC and Rob relaxed on their last day on the island. They got their treemail, which seemed to indicate that the end would come for the camp in the form of fire. JC and Rob cleaned up their home for 39 days, before they took their torches and set fire to it. They also burned the Chalam flag.

JC said that the memories of their days on the island with the other castaways went through his mind as they watched the camp burn down. He wished that everything he had learned would still be with him when he went back to Manila and that he would become a better person because of them.

Last Messages

Rob and JC then went to a place high up on the island to reminisce about their fellow castaways. At various stations on the way, they found the castoffs’ extinguished torches, in the order of their departure from the island. They put a flower garland on each torch and left a message for those who had spent time on the island with them. Clips of each castaway were shown in between the messages. As they went from torch to torch, their messages got more personal and emotional. Gratitude, hopes of continuing friendship, and good wishes were given to the castoffs.

Here are parts of their final messages to their former tribe mates:

  • Marlon – (JC) Kahit ano pa man, nakita ko yung good side sa iyo at nire-respeto kita.
Sana kung ano man yung naging desisyon namin, it’s only a part of the game.
We dearly love you. We do, we do, we do. We love you.

At the end of their salute to the other castaways, JC and Rob reached the top of the summit where they enjoyed their last sunset on the island. Rob appreciated the chance to give a message to the others and thank each of them. JC said he and Rob would not have been in the Final Two if it were not for the other castaways, and that he was thankful for it.

Rob and JC released purple hot-air balloons into the air. JC acknowledged that the end of the game had come, and he had done everything. The decision at the Tribal Council was now out of his hands. Rob was thankful for the mutual trust that he and JC had for each other.
