A Movie A Day, Keeps the Pinoy’s Political Woes Away
The state of emergency was lifted on Friday and the Philippine peso is nearing 50 against the dollar. Economic strategy or not, Proclamation 1017 has worked in favor of the President while her oppositionists are seething in public (and private) rage.
President Arroyo and her economic team were optimistic that this performance will continue throughout the year and will persuade foreign investors and ratings agencies to look even more favorably at the Philippines than they do now. But of course the common Filipino will not feel it yet (something that wouldn’t happen overnight) while I fell asleep in the middle of the delayed telecast of the Bb. Pilipinas 2006.
At least with the Oscars done, we can look forward to good Hollywood movies in Philippine cinemas real soon.
