by Maricar on October 27th, 2006

Do you want to be the next Gorio Vicuna, animator for Dreamworks, Warner Brothers and Paramount Pictures? The Animazing Shorts 2007, an animation contest, could be your chance!

The Center for International Trade Expositions and Missions (CITEM) and the Animation Council of the Philippines (ACPI) are launching the Animazing Shorts 2007: 5th Animation Competition and the Philippine Animation Film Festival (PAFF) to promote the Filipinos’ talent in animation.

CITEM said that for the past decades, Filipino animators have done extraordinary work for international studios like Pixar, Dreamworks, Warner Brothers, Cartoon Network, Nickelodeon and Disney.

Through the launching of the animation competition and film festival, the race is on for the next batch of outstanding Filipino animators who can create visually stunning work and tell a good story with a positive theme.

Animazing Shorts is open to all students of Philippine colleges and universities as well as freelance or employed animators.

For information on how to join, call these numbers at CITEM’s IT Services and Electronics Division: (+632) 8325044 and (+632) 8312201 locals 212, 251, and 301; or email itservices@citem.com.ph.

i know of an animator when i was in high school, many moons ago. nakapantalon na ko noon…he was my classmate in high school… his name is Delfin Barras, matanda ‘yon kaysa akin, and he was a good artists/animator. while we were in our fourth year at Araullo High School, Delfin Barras is making extra money at a young age by doing drawings for the stories of Celso Carunungan and Pilipino Komiks, and i think also TIKTIK magazaine.(the name alone of this magazine will make you wonder what kind of article it publishes) I hope somebody could stumble into this comment of mine and knows the whereabouts of Delfin Barras…can you please relay to him to contact me thru this blog!!! and if Delfin Barras could read this….i want to tell him!!! DELFIN..HINDI TOTOO NA SINABI KONG NAKITA KONG BUTAS ANG PUNDIYA NG PANTALON MO AT TINURO KO KAY NORMA FONSECA NA WALA KA PALANG UNDERWEAR.PERO TUMINGIN SIYA AT ANG SABI NIYA, NG NAKITA ANG KUWAN MO….HMMMMMMMMMMMM!!!!!

Hi. I stumbled upon your reply here and i would like to ask some questions for my simple speech project this monday >> march 19 2007. I am KX Esporlas, 4th year engineering stude from UP Diliman. My speech is about inspiring and encouraging my classmates to learn and explore their skills in learning and doing animations. im currently doing animation on the side but not earning yet coz i aint that good yet. I just wanna know if youngsters, like undergrads can do and EARN even little in doing animation on the side while in college. I need names and figures of how much and to what extend could the opportunities in this field has to offer them, i find only few names and figures (mostly not philippine setting) over the internet. i was planning to visit and do an informal interview at holycowanimation studio at taguig but my class always takes the entire day. Hope you could share me some ideas. Thank You!

i’m very proud for all the filipino artists in the world right now. Not just in animation but in other mediums as well. Sana dumami pa ang mga pilipinong kagaya ninyo.
