Another Wedding in the Family

by Maricar on July 2nd, 2007

june wedding

This weekend, I attended my cousin’s wedding. Weddings in the family are always cause for much celebration. I love seeing my kababata (the people I grew up with) all dressed up and radiant, ready to begin a new life. The flowergirls in all their finery. The little boys all cute in their barong Tagalog. The beautiful bridesmaids. It’s a happy, happy occasion.

In our far-flung extended family, weddings also double as reunions and opportunities to catch up with cousins, aunts and uncles. The last time I saw some of them was at another wedding two years ago. That couple is now expecting their first child (congrats, you guys!). I haven’t seen one of my other cousins for more than 10 years, so it was a nice time to get reacquainted.

I don’t have a lot of photos to show, unfortunately. Have you tried taking photos while chatting and holding a toddler in one arm? I’ve realized the futility of that exercise and stopped trying a long time ago. But it’s ok. It was more important for me to get some serious chat time with as many people as I can. After all, who knows when the next wedding in the family will be? Well, I’m hoping I’ll see them again sooner than that. ;)

We had great fun and it was wonderful to see you all again! Congratulations and best wishes again, J and A!
