Car-less Days for Philippine Army at Fort Bonifacio

by Maricar on July 18th, 2008

The Philippine Army is leading the way towards greater fuel savings in the government. They have established car-free days inside their general headquarters at Fort Bonifacio in Makati. Every week from Tuesday to Thursday, all personnel (even the highest-ranking generals) and visitors must walk or ride bicycles while inside the camp. The only exceptions which will be allowed are:

* the P1.00 Multicab, which is to be used only by the elderly and children

* Army personnel on operations

* delivery trucks

What a great example this can set for the rest of the Philippine government. Walking or cycling not only saves on fuel, but is great exercise as well! And what government wouldn’t want their soldiers to be physically fit?
