Charice at the David Foster concert in Las Vegas
Like Oprah, Madonna, and Cher, she is now known by her first name: Charice.
“Tonight, a star is born!” David Foster exclaimed when Charice Pempengo wowed a 10,000-strong audience in Las Vegas where she performed at Foster’s tribute concert. She was the only performer to get a standing ovation, in fact - two!, that night with the songs she’s famous for singing - “I have Nothing / Will Always Love You” and “And I’m Telling You”.
Oprah called Foster to get Charice on his show. The 16-year old from Cabuyao, Laguna, Philippines appeared on the Oprah Show, and she was clearly impressed. Well, a good thing Foster accommodated Oprah, too! Other stars who performed that night were Alicia Keyes, Josh Groban, Brian McKnight and Katherine McPhee among others.
Watch these two videos of the concert… obviously taken with a hidden camera ;-)

It was really amazing to know that we have been penetrating the high standard world of showbiz in Hollywood through CHARICE. She opens the door of other Filipino Artist to be known on their craft.
I just wish that she will continue bringing the banner of being a Filipino where she may be.
Good Luck and God bless you!!!

We thank God for a heart like yours
We thank God for a voice like yours
Your smile lights the stage like no spotlight could
Your songs can make us cry like nobody would
You bring us inspiration and pride
All because you were put down but rose back up again

This is false. There were 3 others who got the standing ovation - Davind Foster himself, Andrea Bocelli, and Josh Groban.

Standing ovation…there was another concert held in MGM Foxwood, Connecticut - that the one they are talking about for the standing ovation and not the one in Mandalay Bay.

I read “My Stroke of Insight” in one sitting - I couldn’t put it down. I laughed. I cried. It was a fantastic book (I heard it’s a NYTimes Bestseller and I can see why!), but I also think it will be the start of a new, transformative Movement! No one wants to have a stroke as Jill Bolte Taylor did, but her experience can teach us all how to live better lives. Her TED.com speech was one of the most incredibly moving, stimulating, wonderful videos I’ve ever seen. Her Oprah Soul Series interviews were fascinating. They should make a movie of her life so everyone sees it. This is the Real Deal and gives me hope for humanity.
