Gloria Arroyo sick with the flu

by Grace on July 27th, 2006

I wonder if President Gloria Arroyo read yesterday’s post… or if her Presidential Security Group’s medical officer did. Maybe she should have.

gloriaLate last night, President Gloria was rushed to St. Luke’s Medical Center because of… guess what… THE FLU. fever. runny nose. sore throat. dry cough. body ache. Yup. All classic symptoms of the common flu.

The bulletin, read by Presidential Chief of Staff Michael Defensor, said Arroyo’s symptoms “are consistent with the flu” and that she was “advised by her doctors,” including pulmonologist Ruth Divinagracia, “to get full rest.”

It also advised that she have “no visitors please.”

No visitors… Like we can actually go past her guards. But seriously. Earlier yesterday she missed two scheduled appointments, one with Filipino-American hip-hop star Allen Pineda and other members of the Black Eyed Peas, and a separate meeting with pastor and author Rick Warren.

Palace Officials alluded that the president had a stressful week. She had been staying up all night to prep for her State of the Nation Address last Monday, and meeting with a group of Filipino workers coming home from Lebanon last Wednesday.
