Manila-Puerto Princesa airfare: real sale or not?

I was initially excited to blog this news I read from Pinoy Travel Blog -

The Cebu Pacific Manila - Puerto Princesa 98-peso seat (one-way) sale!

It looked like a steal of a sale. A search of several domestic carriers showed regular flights to be around Php3000 to Php3600 one-way.

Php98 versus Php3000 is a good deal any day!

However, here’s what bothered me with Abe’s post -

Of course, there are surcharges and taxes added to that so you’ll end up paying somewhere around a thousand bucks or more.

Err… How much do extra fees cost in the Philippines anyway?!

1000 pesos is a great deal compared to the 3000-3500 normal fare. Why don’t they just advertise it that way. Asian airlines tend to do this. Tiger Airways does this too. We do this in the U.S. but on a much smaller scale. A 100 dollar advertised sale fare may end up costing 125 dollars. From an advertised 98 peso to a 1000 peso fare is quite a stretch.
