My Favorite Filipino Men

by Maricar on June 25th, 2007

b5media’s Travel and Culture Channel has regular theme days when we share a topic to talk about. So far, we’ve discussed spring, art, food, and women. This time, our theme is men.

So, in keeping with our theme, I’ll share with you the list of Filipino men I admire. Of course, these men are outside of my own family since no other guys can top them in my book.

Art: Fernando Amorsolo

Amorsolo was named a National Artist in 1972. He is outstanding among Filipino painters in the way that he captured images of life in the Philippines. His works are so distinctive and evocative of that which is truly Filipino. This is his Ina at Anak (Mother and Child):

Music: Ryan Cayabyab

Ryan Cayabyab

He is the master Filipino composer and champion of orginal Pinoy music. He wrote one of my favorite songs ever, “Kay Ganda ng Ating Musika “.

History: Andres Bonifacio

Boni was a brave and simple man who had a great heart for the Philippines. I don’t think he is honored enough for what he did for the country.

Entertainment: Piolo Pascual

Piolo Pascual

Piolo Pascual is currently one of the best actors in the Philippine entertainment scene. He’s also a very good singer who has a humble attitude and hot looks to boot.

Social Responsibility: Jaime Zobel de Ayala

The Ayala family is one of the richest families in the world. But that’s not why its patriarch makes my list. The Ayala clan hasn’t simply acquired wealth for themselves. Through the Ayala Foundation, they’ve dedicated part of that wealth towards helping improve the lives of Filipinos.

PIOLO PASCUAL, my one and only favorite Philippine actor of his generation. He is blessed with outstanding good looks, exceptional physique, multi-talented as an actor, singer, endorser, unusually spiritual, good breeding, humble, intelligent and most of all down to earth as a superstar!!!!!!!!!!!!
