OK, so who is ‘Bob Ong’ again?
I’ve never heard of Bob Ong before this week, but Ruel S. De Vera of the Sunday Inquirer seems to be in the know.
According to De Vera, Bob Ong is “a publishing phenomenon whose blockbuster book sales are equaled only by the anonymity he maintains”. Apparently, the author hides behind the name Bob Ong and no one knows who is really is. His publisher protects his identity, although Ong says some of his fans have met him. This lends an air of mystery and people become more intrigued and curious. Those who read his work say that his writings are both humorous and insightful, has wisdom, humor and a flair that appeals to our Filipino way of thinking. Ong started a website called Bobong Pinoy that even received a People’s Choice Philippine Web Award for Weird/Humor in 1998. The success led him to publish his writings, thus the books, and all five together massed a quarter million copies sold. Not bad for someone “unknown”.

Are those just letters, or do they mean something? Hmm… Let’s try Tagalog:
ABa NaKaKaBaSa Na PaLa Ko …. ahhh… (Translated: “Now I can read!? Chalk stories of Bob Ong”)

i have read 4 books of BOB ONG,
but i haven’t read the 5th the “stainless langgonisa”,,,
i cant say bad comments on bob ong’s writing b’coz,,
i love his books,,
i can relate on the story,,

grabe nabasa ko ung paboritong libro ni hudas at nagustohan ko agad ito… saan ba nakakabili ng ibang libro ni bob ong wala kasi ako mahanap na iba eh…pls paki sabi naman kung saan meron ng iba pang libro ni bob ong kasi nakakaadik gusto ko mabasa lahat….

I’m a big fan of bob ong… i was able to read all of his books, and I must say that those writings are very much effective in reminding people that despite of all the hardship we may encounter in life…HOPE is just around the corner… waiting to be embrace by….
I was moved by his book “A B N K K B S N P L A Ko” because I had experienced the same emotions, pain,trials and shortcomings he had in college.. upon reading that book I feel like it was exactly me whose has been described on it. I took the same path of solution, same with what he did…
I can wait to have his next book…
Bob Ong inspires me a lot.

Nah. Whoever that birdie is, he must be referring to a bob ong wannabe. The real person behind the books is the same simple, everyday man you read in his books. Simple, ordinary, run-of-the-mill, even shy. The type you who wouldn’t (and would not choose to) stand out in a crowd.
PR? Not his thing. Definitely.

umm i’m one of his fans…he’s great!!…i have read all of his 5 books - ABNKKBSNPLAko?! - ANg paboritong Libro ni Hudas - Stainless Longganisa - Bakit Baliktad Mag-basa ng Libro ang mga Pilipino and ang Alamat ng Gubat…hehehe but i don’t know about his background…i just remembered that he’s mentioning that his teacher asked “sino si Roberto Ong?” and he is describing about himself…. i forgot which book i had read that but i guess Roberto Ong is his real name hehehehe

I’ve read one of bob ong’s book Ang paboritong libro ni hudas…I really enjoyed it, sobrang nakakatawa…I really wanted to buy one of his books again,,pero d q alam qng san…nasa ibng bansa na kc aq,,mahrap nga eh…I really really wanted to buy all of his books sobra I will sacriface,,khit maubos pera q…hehehe

dalawang books pa lang ni bob ong ang nabasa ko kasi inaway ko yung mga tao sa bilihan ng libro malapit samin.. out of stock na daw yung iba!!! bakit kasi ngayon ko lang nalaman na may bob ong pala?!! si bob ong ay isan hamog sa umaga at alikabok sa hapon..in short, ASTEEEEGGG!!!!

Gusto ko lang pong sabihin na maganda talaga ang mga books ni BOB ONG. Gusto kong mag comment dun sa sinabi ni PrutasJr sa real name ni BOB ONG.
HIndi yun ROBERT ONG kasi kahit na yun yung nakasulat sa book nya. Kasi sinabi nya sa Stainless Longganisa na yung Editor nya ay sobrang higpit sa mga sinusulat nya na pinababalik tlga nya kay BOB ONG yung sinulat nya kung may mali. Hindi nmn cgro papayagan nung Editor na basta na lang isulat ni BOB ONG yung real name nya d ba???

nakatigom na unta ko ug kwarta apan pag adto nako sa bookstore nabanggaan ko ug jeep pagtabok nako sa karsada kay ang akong hunahuna tua naman sa libro wala nako kabalo nga naa diay ko sa tunga sa kalsada…grabe jud ning libro ni bob, ikamatay ba..saludo kaayo ko…

medyo naiinip na ko sa 6th book… ilang bese na po akong nagpapabalik balik sa bookstore, pero till now, wala pa din.

Dear Bob Ong,
Hindi ko alam kung ano ang magiging reaksyon mo sa akin. Nabasa ko ng buo yung mga libro mong A B N K K B S N P L A ko??, Paboritong libro no hudas, Alamat ng gubat at bakit baliktad magbasa ng libro ang mga Pilipino.Alam mo magaling ka, hanga ako sa yo pero sa lahat ng iyon yung Bakit Baliktad Magbasa ng Libro ang mga Pilipino ang pinakamadrama. Dahil sa librong yon narealize ko yung mga peklat ng Pilipinas. Nakasasakit nga yung katotohanan.Halos medyo muntik na akong maiyak lalo na dun sa page 123 to 129. Nakakalungkot pag nasabihan tayong low level Filipinos…..*make me puke* Bakit ba tayotinawag na third world country?
2002 ginawa yung libro di ba???!! eh di 10 na ako non pero ngayon ko lang nabasa . Napapsalamat nga ako na may isang katulad mo na gumagawa ng mga librong nakakaaliw na, kapupulutan pa ng aral. Gusto ko rin magkaroon ng kabuluhan ang mga opinyon mo !!!! Naniniwala rin ako na totoo at may katuturan ang mga sinulat mo…Kung mababasaa lang sana yun ng lahat ng pulitiko, manggagawa, estudyante, taong bahay, taong grasa lahat na pati artista basurero pati mga taong walang pakelam sa mundo.Siguro naman kahit konti…, basta ewan ko.. alm mo na siguro ang ibig kong sabihin.
Idol ka nga namin ng iba kong kaklase e!!! naisip ko tuloy para kang si Rizal na ginigising ang damdamin ng mga Pilipino para sa pag-unlad ng bansa natin.MAHAL MO BA TALAGA ANG PILIPINAS ??? DAHIL PILIPINO KA??? Nasa puso mo ba ang mga opinyong isinulat mo o kwentong barbero lang ang lahat???? Sana hindi kasi sinisuportahan pa naman kita.
Hindi namin alam ang itsura mo ng kaklase ko kaya iniimagine na lang namin kung anong itsura mo.Iniimagine namin na isa kang listong matanda na nasa 50 to 60 years old na maraming karanasan sa buhay tapos mataba na malaki yung tiyan. Nakakatuwang tao at hindi boring kasama. Mbait at madaling maging kaibigan.
Pasensya ka na kung hindi talaga ganoon ang tunay mong itsura… nagiimagine lang namn kami eh!!! Pasensya na.. Sana mameet ka namin pero sino ba naman ako at ang kaklase ko para mameet ka eh estudyante lang naman kami…
Siya nga pala di ba gusto mong umunlad ang pilipinas???? sa palagay mo anong magagawa ng isangb high school student na tulad ko na nag-aambisyong maging hollywood superstar bukod sa disiplina at pag-aaral ng mabuti. Sana may kasagutan din ang sulat ko mula sa yo.
Yung pangalan ng kaklase ko ay Roderick Cantillero ako naman si Shayne….. Sana isang araw mameet ka namin!!!!!!!
