Passenger sues jetBlue for flight spent in toilet

Passenger manifesto:

  • Jane Doe               seat # 16-B
  • Joh Doe                 seat # 21-C
  • Gokhan Mutlu       toilet seat

OK so it sounds funny like that, but I am sure it wasn’t any fun for jetBlue passenger Gokhan Mutlu when he was told to stay in the airplane bathroom for his flight from San Diego to New York. And it’s certainly not funny now for jetBlue if this suit goes to court.

Gokhan Mutlu was wait-listed on a flight from San Diego to New York, but was allowed to board when a flight attendant gave up her last seat. According to the New York Post, the attendant sat on the personnel “jump seat” but 30 minutes into the flight wanted to take her seat back. So the pilot told Mutlu to give up that seat to the stewardess, and spend the rest of the flight in the toilet. Which he did, much to his humiliation.

Even though this didn’t happen in the Philippines, I thought I would post this as part of the travel-related news. Just in case you might be traveling with jetBlue. Read the complete report from the New York Post.

Grace - this story is almost unbelievable! I honestly can’t believe that this happened anywhere in the world. I would have been ‘flush’ with anger too…

Wow, the pilot should be sacked and the airline should be fined heavily for that.

    is this really true?

i thought passengers aren’t allowed to seat on the jump seats. if mr. mutlu sat on the jump seat during takeoff then where did the cabin crew stay?

    ha… jetblue is in trouble.

JetBlue should be ashamed to call themselves an airline. A family member’s flight was cancelled, he had to stay at a hotel at his expense, then his flight was cancelled the next day, he missed his meeting and had to go the following week. The following week at check-in, the morons they have working there, saw him but acted like he was invisible and wouldn’t even give him a bag tag, until 15 mins later he had to motion to them. Ofcourse that flight left 4 hours late . What a nightmare! Jet Blue acts as if they are doing people a big favor by letting them fly on their airline! The worst airline ever. They need to cease to exist!I hope they go out of business. I am absoutely disgusted.

By the way, from Mr. Mutlu’s experience , it seems like the staff are terrible not just at the check-in counter, but all the way to the Pilots. What kind of nasty operation are they running?
