Survivor Philipines Episode 40 (11-7-08): Deception in Chalam
In the previous episode of Survivor Philippines, Vern won the Immunity Necklace after a grueling and painful challenge.
Back at the Chalam Camp, Kiko gave Cris some advice about Cris’ relationship with his dad. Kaye observed that in all of the challenges, including the last, Rob did not put in much of an effort. Rob said that it each castaway had his own approach to the game.
Kaye confided to Cris that she is now making her own challenge. She had felt betrayed over what she saw was the others leaving her out in the cold even after she has helped some of them stay in the game. Cris relayed that Kiko told him that the six of them would be the ones remaining. Cris asked him whether the all-guys alliance was still on, but Kiko didn’t say anything. Kaye said that it was Zita whom Kiko wanted to be in the final three. Cris and Kaye now seemed to make their own alliance, saying that they will only ride the waves with Jarakay for so long. They also didn’t want Jarakay to win.
Maneuvers at Camp
Marlon talked with Rob, as if he had accepted that he (Marlon) would be gone, and asked him what his strategy was. Rob assured him that he (Rob) was intelligent and that he had a plan to be in the top 5. Marlon asked him if was sure that he would not be removed by his own ‘alliance’. The two relayed to Charisse what they had talked about.
Day 24 dawned at the camp. Cris talked to Rob about the things that he had observed and heard. Rob didn’t take it too well; Cris described him as being like a bull. Charisse told Kiko what Marlon and Rob her. Apparently, Rob had promised Marlon a free stay in a hotel in Manila if Marlon would vote for Rob to win the P3 million.
Kiko and Cris talked about their dissatisfaction with Rob. Kiko didn’t like how Rob focused on the prize rather than helping Naak be united. Marlon, meanwhile, was confident of his alliance with Vern, Charisse, Kaye and Cris. He made light of what he said was his last day on the island. He repeatedly said that only someone who was not too sharp would not sense that he was about to be voted out.
JC said that it was definitely Marlon whom they would vote out. Charisse told Kiko and Cris about a deal that Rob had seemingly made. Rob learned of a plot from Cris that someone would vote for him (Rob). Kiko said he was disappointed in Rob and how Rob had changed. There was a lot of things going on before the Tribal Council. Everybody was working to secure their place on the island. It has gotten confusing who was with whom at this point.
Rob said that there were only 2 people whom he trusted fully, Cris and Zita. Charisse saw that Kiko was very confident and that he had no inkling. Kiko and JC were not happy about Rob’s performance in the last challenge. Marlon was really happy throughout the day, despite what the others perceived as his pending departure.
Suspense at Tribal Council
Host Paolo Bediones welcomed the Chalam tribe to Tribal Council. Jace, the first member of the jury, arrived, welcomed by a smile from Vern.
Paolo asked tough questions of the castaways before the voting began. One such question was whether the Naak and Jarakay tribes were still strong. Zita said that it seemed that tribal lines have been erased. Cris said that his loyalty was still strong but that it was still a game. Kaye said that at the start, it was her emotions that she allowed to lead, but not anymore.
Kiko was asked whether anything changed about his outlook, his principles. Kiko replied that he didn’t want to compromise his principles, and that he was the same inside and outside the game.
Paolo noticed that Vern seemed unable to concentrate. Giggling like a schoolgirl, Vern remarked that Jace was so handsome(!), and that he (or she?) was glowing.
JC was asked how he chose the three who went off the island with him. He had chosen Zita because she had worked so hard for them all at the camp. Rob and Kiko were chosen because they had not won anything at the auction and JC said he wanted to be fair. Paolo reminded Kaye and Cris that they were not chosen.
The castaways voted. When Paolo counted the votes, it came to 4 for Marlon and 4 for Kiko. But the name of the 10th castaway to leave the island was not revealed!

Truly, this is a game but it is also a character revealing game. Makikita mo talaga kung sino ang taong may prinsipyo at kung sino ang pera lang talaga ang habol.
Totoo namang kailangan ng lahat ang pera pero ang pera napakadaling mawala, pwede mo pa ngang ikamatay e pero ang totoong kaibigan “Rare breed” ika nga. Mahirap pla talaga tong challenge na to no?
Kakatuwa din…mas matindi to sa “Big Brother” Masyado nilang pinagtuunan yung 39 days na challenge at 3M kaysa yung yung buhay after the program. Sabi nga e “you may win the fight but lose the battle.”
Huh!! kitang kita mo talaga kung sino ang kayang kayang baguhin ng pera…di lang pala lalaki…kahit din pala maganda. Mas bumilib pa tuloy ako sa Jarakay, kahit talunan na sila e sila pala ang may tunay na malasakit sa katribo.
Well, talagang iba-iba ang tao…at mahirap magtiwala. Kakabilib din c Nanay Zita kahit sabihin mong walang pinag-aralan e malalim pala ang prinsipyo kaysa sa iba.
For me, this voting out is the hardest challenge for the Naak tribe, inilabas nito ang tunay na pagkatao nila. Madali pala silang mabulungan. I knew that Kaye voted out Kiko.
Well, siya yun e…at siya na talaga yun, ginawa na niya yun kay Vhem.
Kung anoman ang pinakita ng bawat isa dito e yun na sila…di nila pwedeng sabihin na laro lang ito.

I’m so disgusted with Kaye and Cris, maganda ang samahan nila ng Naak and all the while agad silang nagpadala sa devil, nakakahinayang. My heart cried when Kiko was voted out gusto ko ang ugali niya. Hoping that in the end of the Survivor I won’t see that a devil triumph.

Kiko: I believe you’re a deep rooted Christian. Congratulations sa parents mo, pinalaki ka nang tama di katulad ng ibang kasama mo. Wag kang mag-alala, sa mata ng mga tao e winner ka di mo man nakuha yung 3M, pera lang yun madaling kitain pero yung pagkatao e priceless yan. Marlon: Pinipilit kong isipin na hindi ka ganyan sa totoong buhay pero hindi e….mukhang ganyan ka talaga pinalaki. First day pa lang ganyan ka na. Pag piniga mo ang sponge e lalabas kung ano nasa loob kaya sa lahat ng situwasyon ganon ka talaga e. Hmm kawawa ka naman, marami nang ganya sa bansa natin isa ka pa…naka nationwide TV pa naman baka magaya pa ng iba that’s why I’m always telling my kids that what you’re doing is bad and never do that to others kahit ano pa ang kapalit.
