This is the last episode of Survivor Philippines for this week. This was the castaways’ 5th day on the island. With the second immunity challenge over, and Jarakay bringing the immunity idol back to their camp, it only needs to be seen who among the Naak tribe will go home.

The Philippines has spoken texted! The winner of the first Pinoy Idol competition is none other than –
GRETCHEN ESPINA! The 20-year old Biliran native bested crowd favorite Jayann Bautista to gain the title “First Pinoy Idol” and PhP 5.7 million worth of prizes.

Alas, less than a day after winning and controversy is already tailing her. Espina is the daughter of Governor Rogelio Espina of Biliran, one of the smallest provinces in eastern Visayas. Comments have circulated that she won the title through her father’s political connections. Espina explains herself to Philippine Daily Inquirer.
