I found this video at Christine’s Happy Slip site, and I thought at first it was hers. It turns out the singer is Chris Cendana, a Filipino American songwriter who has a beautiful soulful voice!
What a moving tribute to this land of the free and opportunity. As Chris mentions in the video – American is a refuge.

While the US celebrates July 4 as the American Independence Day, the Philippines marks this day as the Philippine-American Friendship Day, to commemorate the freedom of both American and Filipino forces from the Japanese occupation at the end of World War II.
