CNN viewers voted the 1982 Filipino film “Himala” (Miracle) as the Best Asia-Pacific Film of All Time, announced the Asia Pacific Screen Awards in Gold Coast, Queensland, Australia on November 11.
I’m trying to remember what this film was all about, and why it generated such a buzz. “Himala” was a 1982 film by Ishmael Bernal and starred Nora Aunor as a faith healer who gave hope to everyone in her town when people started getting healed. At the end of the movie, she admitted that there was no such miracle.

Remember “Raquela” the Filipina transgender who starred in a semi-fictional movie? It has gotten Hollywood’s attention!
“The Amazing Truth About Queen Raquela” has won the Best Feature Film at the Berlin Film Fest this year. Now, audiences in the US will get to watch this “honest portrayal” of a transgender when it opens September 26 in the USA via Regent. The Hollywood Reporter saw a preview and remarks that it will find “appreciative audiences in a few big cities” where it will be shown.

“For the First Time” (still) gives me butterflies. It’s one my husband used to sing when we first went out and *sigh*, the song brings back romantic memories.
So when I saw the trailer of KC Concepcion and Richard Gutierrez falling in love in “For the First Time“, I couldn’t help but wonder if the on-screen chemistry is for real. I mean, they came back from Greece (where the movie was filmed) like lovers. Love rubbed off on them?

This song is from the blockbuster movie “Caregiver” starring Sharon Cuneta as Sarah, a teacher-turned-caregiver in London. I’ve only seen the trailer so far since the film has not been released in the theaters of East Coast, USA. But I will definitely get the DVD when it comes out!
Here is the music video for the film, sang by Sharon herself “Paalam Na” (Goodbye Now). This is gonna be the theme song for many of our fellowmen who are apart from their families.

This was the MTV of the 1980s… The famous dance “Beh! Buti Nga” from the movie Ibalik and Swerte. Yeah, this was the way we danced in the ’80s! LOL!

Nora Aunor and kuya Germs looked so young then… oops, that was 28 years ago! Now I forget the name of the actor at the end of the clip… who was he again?
