We occasionally debate over whether we should trade our cable TV for a satellite dish. Maybe these new offerings from the DISH network will make the switch sweeter.
The DISH Network wants to reach out to more Filipinos in the U.S. with its expanded Filipino-targeted programming. The network has 4 new channels and 2 packages for Pinoys who want to keep in touch with their motherland through TV.
The four new Filipino channels available to subscribers are:

GMA Pinoy TV, which offers news, game shows, sitcoms, talk shows and soap operas
GMA Life TV, covering the Filipino lifestyle and interests

After the two vote-outs on the last episode of Survivor Philippines, Jarakay’s Nina was teary at the sudden departure of her clam-gathering companion and tribe entertainer Patani. Fresh from the Tribal Council, the Jarakay tribe continued to turn their thoughts to the next vote.
At Naak, Kiko asked mommy Zita to help him scrub his back. It was all fun and games in their tribe. Incidentally , at this point, the castaways have started to lose some weight from the lack of food.

On the first morning on the island, the Jarakay Tribe was shown scrounging for materials to make their camp on the northeast end of Koh Tarutao.
The other pressing need of all the castaways was food. Jarakay gathered several mushrooms. Gigit and Marlon seem to be the in-tribe experts on edible mushrooms (though, it seems that they don’t agree on which are edible and which are not).
Tribe Naak was hard at work constructing their shelter and trying to start a fire.

Survivor Philippines has begun! The pilot episode was shown on September 15, 2008.
39 days in the wilderness. Who will be the first Pinoy Sole Survivor?
The first episode began with a boat ride to Koh Tarutao Islands, the site of the competition. Host Paolo Bediones welcomed the 18 castaways, and gave their first hurdle: the castaways had to jump off their boat and swim to the island. Only those who can reach the shore will be included in the competition.

The Philippines will get its own super-smart but not-so-pretty Betty this month.
‘I Love Betty La Fea’ is the Filipino version of the hits that started with the Columbian series ‘Yo soy Betty, la Fea’ and caught on in the U.S. as ‘Ugly Betty’. The Pinoy version stars Bea Alonzo as Beatriz Pengson/Betty. Other actors include Ai-Ai delas Alas, Ronaldo Valdez, John Lloyd Cruz,  Ruffa Gutierrez, Jojo Alejar and Vhong Navarro.
