It’s an honor for three Filipino Films to be featured at the top film festival this side of the Atlantic. The Toronto International Film Festival, from September 4-13, 2008 usually features one film from the Philippines. This year, there are three, and one of them is already a classic.

An independent Filipino film about a family running a prostitution business inside a movie theater is getting good reviews at the 61st Cannes International Film Festival in France. Brillante Mendoza’s “Serbis” is competing for a top award, the Palm d’Or for Feature Film, from the prestigious gathering. “Serbis” made its world premiere on May 18, the 5th day of the festival.
