The Art of Art Silva

filammural

If you live in or have ever visited LA, you might have seen one of Art Silva’s murals.

Eliseo Art Silva is a well-known muralist with numerous works of art displayed in Seattle, California, Philadelphia, Maine and the Philippines. He is recognized for painting the largest Filipino-American mural (above) in the U.S.: Gintong Kasaysayan, Gintong Pamana in Historic Filipinotown, Los Angeles, California. The mural measures 145 feet x 25 feet.

Art studied in the Philippine High School for the Arts, located in Mt. Makiling, Los Banos, where I was lucky enough to meet him. My best friend was a classmate of his. Through her, I heard news of how Art was making a name for himself in the L.A. art scene.

Art Silva

His parents must have known something when they gave him his name. ;)

I’m involved in a campaign to restore the Roots and Wings Mural that was painted over by the City of Carson, CA. I am in contact with the artist to secure his involvement in the project. I’m planning to organize a fundraising effort to secure funding for the restoration and maintenance of the mural once it’s restored. I would appreciate any advice and assistance in this effort.
