The Mall of Asia - big and beautiful
I went “ooh, ahh” ga-ga over this gigantum mall. Just take a look at the expanse of the Mall of Asia .

And I’d have to admit that I never got to finish the “tour” in one day, since I didn’t care much for the gazillion signature shops inside. But golly, brands that I had seen only in the upscale streets of Milan, Italy actually have stores here. I’m flabbergasted at the wealth of the ‘common pinoy’.

The architecture and design though were what captured my attention for the rest of our tour.

Just look at how big that globe is. It wasn’t a mistake that the Philippines (not seen) was designed bigger than it was in relation to the world.
And inside, I loved (!) the ceiling-high glass bay window that overlooked the city skyline.

The skating rink was huge as well and I was pleased to see many Pinoys happily getting to skate on ice (coz… I don’t know how!)

But the best part of the Mall is its breezeway that begins at the overlook of the Manila Bay and cools the air through to the front.

The next time your in Manila, go visit this mall even if you’re not going to shop. Hang out in the breezeway, or sit in one of the cafes to bask in the warm Manila sun, or watch the sunset! There are a lot of events in the evenings at this overlook - concerts and bands bring nightlife back again at the Bay.
(Part of a mini-series, “My Journey Home ” chronicles this balikbayan’s return after 7 long years.)

I really enjoyed visiting this mall. Even by American standards it is an impressive mall. The restaurants allow one to dine on steak and other foods that are of American quality. I grew up close to the Mall of America in Minneapolis and I still enjoy this mall more!!
