Typhoon Seniang (Utor) on the Heels of Reming

Seniang

Oh, my dear Philippines. Why is it that you have to endure yet another typhoon?

Yes, it’s true. The country is still recovering from Typhoon Durian, and here comes another one.

As of 8:00 am (0000 GMT) Saturday, typhoon Seniang (international name: Utor) was located about 90 kilometers (55.8 miles) east of the central island of Samar, moving northwest at 22 kilometers (13.6 miles) per hour with maximum winds of 120 kilometers (74.4 miles) per hour, the (government) weather station said.

It is expected to hit Samar later Saturday and will be over the central island of Panay on Sunday, the weather station said.

Bicol, which was particularly hit hard by Reming/Durian, is likely to be affected by the new storm. :(

[...] Just a short note to let you know that I’ve arrive safely, despite another typhoon, Seniang (International name: Utor). It’s been a shaky flight from Taipei to Manila yesterday, and it’s been wet and windy since I arrived. But as long as I’m safe on the ground, I guess I shouldn’t complain. At least they didn’t seem to have cancelled flights this time, unlike the last time. [...]

[...] With unfortunate events like Typhoons Seniang and Reming, happening in the Philippines lately, we need images like these happy kids to remind us of the Filipino’s resilient and warm personality. It certainly made me smile. Filipinos have a lot to be thankful for this Christmas. These are indeed the faces of Manila. [...]
