World Pool Championship 2006 in Manila
We’ve featured pool (billiards) often (here, here and here). It’s one of the popular past times in towns all over the Philippines. Of course, it helps that its most prominent Filipino player, Efren Reyes, is a whiz at it and totally endearing.
This time, there’s a homeland advantage, as the World Pool Championship is set to take place in Manila on November 4-12. Expect lots of coverage on TV.
From November 4 to 12, about 29 million Filipino adults and millions more teenagers, may be watching the WPC, the Third Quarter 2006 Social Weather Survey found.
The WPC will be televised from the Philippine International Convention Center for several hours daily. Previous champions include Efren “Bata” Reyes in 1999 and Alex Pagulayan in 2004.
Online coverage will be available at the WPC site.
Incidentally, I’ve just started a new b5media blog that focuses on royal families. The Crown Prince of Brunei is expected to take part in the WPC so he’ll be in Manila competing against our countrymen and players from all over the world.

I personally look forward to this. There’s no reason why the champion won’t be a Pinoy. Go Go Pinoys! Go Bata! Go Django! Go Alex! Yabang Pinoy!
